Calm Among the Chaos: Coaching with Clarity in a Noisy Mind
Christina Topping

In this session, we’ll explore how to better support athletes with ADHD by looking beyond behaviors to understand the underlying challenges they face. Using tools like the ADHD Iceberg, real-life case studies, and a brief simulation, coaches will gain insight into the daily experiences of athletes with ADHD. Participants will leave with practical strategies to create a more inclusive, understanding, and effective coaching environment for every athlete.

Paving Pathways: Coaching Origins and Legacies

In this workshop we’ll explore the origins of our best coaching practices by reflecting on who shaped our beliefs about our roles. We’ll also consider the legacies we hope to leave behind what feedback and stories from former athletes show us the positive impact we’ve made. Designed as a multigenerational conversation this session encourages sharing and learning across coaching experiences.

The Rhythm of Performance: Aligning Circadian Rhythms with Athletic Success

We have known about individual differences in circadian rhythmicity for many decades, yet we still often fail to understand how those impact our athletes and how to address the needs derived from such differences. A session to dive into the science of circadian rhythms, debunk myths, and learn strategies to help your athletes be in sync for better performance and health.

Decision Making in Skill-Building Drills

When athletes make decisions while repping out team and individual drills, the skills they are practicing transfer better to gametime fluency. After a short introduction and demonstration, we will breakout to transform drills you already use to bring in elements of decision making. This session is best for coaches of team sports who want to freshen-up their tried-and-true skills and drills plans.

Injuries don’t just take athletes out of the game—they can take a toll on their mental and emotional well-being too. This session dives into how injuries affect adolescent athletes beyond the physical, and gives coaches practical strategies to support athletes mentally during recovery.

Building Teams: Tips and Tricks
Catherine Thornton

Two core principles in this coaching philosophy are building trust and teamwork. The session will present practical tips and strategies that have proven effective in building strong teams. Participants will engage in some of the activities used by the presenter, so they are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for active movement. There will also be time for attendees to share their own tips and experiences for fostering team success.

What is the Mission of Your Mission?

The session will explore the power of mission statements and a discussion around how they can be used in schools beyond just the standard "School mission". The concept of a personal mission statement along with the introduction of a "meso" mission statement will be introduced. The whole presentation is geared towards creating opportunities to better understand yourself and those around you.
